Susan Price Saylor, LISW, is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with nearly 30 years of experience providing compassionate, evidence-based counseling to individuals across the lifespan. Throughout her career, she has helped children, adolescents, adults, and families navigate life’s challenges with empathy, respect, and practical guidance.
Susan’s areas of clinical interest include anxiety, depression, stress management, life transitions, relationship concerns, emotional regulation, and helping individuals build resilience during difficult seasons of life. She believes meaningful change occurs when people are supported in understanding themselves more fully while developing practical skills to move toward the lives they want to live.
Her therapeutic approach is collaborative and individualized, drawing primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Susan works with clients to develop greater psychological flexibility, challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and build healthier coping strategies that support long-term emotional well-being.
Susan earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Iowa State University and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Iowa. She has been a Licensed Independent Social Worker since 1997 and has practiced in a variety of clinical settings, giving her extensive experience working with individuals facing diverse emotional, behavioral, and life challenges.
Susan provides secure telehealth appointments for clients throughout Iowa. Her practice serves individuals from Ankeny, Ames, Altoona, Bondurant, Johnston, Polk City, Urbandale, West Des Moines, Newton, Grinnell, Altoona, Pleasant Hill, and surrounding communities.
Susan believes that every person has the capacity for growth, healing, and resilience. She strives to create a compassionate, supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make lasting changes that reflect their values and goals.
